Your opinion on the Catcher in the Rye by Salinger?

Though I did not read it until I was 26 years old, I thought it was an awesome book (contrary to what Tee Hee thinks) and I wish I had read this in the twelth grade instead of Margaret Laurence's "The Stone Angel," which was as boring as hell! Holden Caulfield, while not a sympathetic character, is still an interesting and engaging character, and many teenage and young adult readers can probably relate to him. Despite a healthy number of cliches that has a tendency to dull writing, the narration is still hip and interesting to make it entertaining. You'll find yourself reading it aloud in playing the role of Holden. I suggest reading this if you need a change of pace, and are about to go nuts after reading such crap as "The Stone Angel" and "Jane Eyre" and even more boring and depressing books as such "Angela's Ashes" and "The Hours."

Drove my car through water and wont start?

Drove my car through what didn't look like that deep of a puddle apparently it was, my car died almost all the way through, it's an 01 chrysler sebring. That water wasn't that deep possibly to the bottom of my door? I was a dumb *** and tried to restart it in the water. I pushed it out onto dry ground. Tried to crank it and it sounded like it was trying to fire, making that initial turning over noise. I pulled the air filter ( not the spark plugs yet seeing how i had no tools at the moment). Eventually it just started tapping really fast when i tried to crank it, sounded more electrical plus the lights flashed in the car everytime the tapping noise occured. Had it towed to my house and this am i tried to crank it and it made the tapping noise, i turned the key to battery mode where electronics come on let it sit for a min and tried to crank it which made it try to crank without the tapping noise, it did sound like my batter way dying at that moment in time though. If i let it dry out a bit longer and hook some jumper cables up to it is it savable without anymore work? I wasn't in that deep of water and my water intake is RIGHT under the hood so i dno't know what happened.

Okay, so right now I'm feeling a little insecure about my looks...shocker. After meniscal surgery, how long will it be until I can squat?

I had my meniscus repaired back in January, and my surgery was more "heavy duty" than some because I'm still very young and I play sports. I had three sutures put in and was off of crutches after 6 weeks. Shortly after, softball season started and I couldn't play my main position, catcher, because I couldn't squat. It's now been 6 months and I still can't completely squat without feeling some tension on the front inside of my knee. My knee feels completely fine other than that. I've been pretty active and I'm just wondering if this is normal for a surgery like mine and if so how long will it be before I can squat again?

3 days ago I had a playoff game in softball and I slid into home and some how my arm go caught on like the catchers leg as she was stepping back and my arm twisted, was forcedbback, and I heard a crack. Right after my coach got ice for it and had someone from my team's dad come look at who was a doctor and he told me I needed to have it x-rayed. I've been putting it off because we have states this week and I NEED to play and I don't want to have to miss the game. Ever since the night I hurt it, it has swelled up and bruised right below my elbow, and it hurts to straighten my arm or move it at all. I've been Advil as much as possible but it still throbs when any weight is put on it or if it is touched or moved. Posada has been red hot, and has proven to us that he's not done. But why can't the Yankees use him better. Obviously, he shouldn't catch every day anymore, but I see no reason why he can't catch once or twice a week, and play first base once every two weeks or so. Teixeira and Martin can't play every day. In fact, I think Martin playing so much has something to do with his getting injured. Bad playing time management, if you ask me.

I need helpreally bad! Me and my fiance got into a heated argument where we split for a while well during this time i began to hang with the wong crowd. One morning while watching the news with these new friends i saw his cousins house burnt down and i made the statement "I ought to go tell the police he burnt that house down just to piss him off". well my "friends" money hungy b**** did not like my fiance nor his cousin because he got them evicted from an apartment they stayed in when he worked sercurity. They figured they could get some quick reward money so they called the arson investigator and told him that my fiance burnt the house down for insurance fraud! i was asked to make a statement at which time i was pregnant and living on my own i lived in apartment alone and the "friends" stayed in the complex as well. well i was told that if i opened my mouth and told on them for lying i wouldnt have to worry about having my child because they would take care of me! When i told the arson investagator i didnt know anything he kept telling me i was lying and i was about to get arrested i was so scared i told him what he wanted to hear at which point he told me that he ws going to arrest my fiance if he didnt come make a statement. i got in contact with my fiance and he was scared of me going to jail or getting hurt that he lied to cover my *** now three people are being indicted on charges of first degree arson i dont know what to do can someone help me?? even after the statement were made i had to all the police three times on the "friends" because one tried to hit me with her car after i told her i was going to tell the truth, then i was walking up my steps with my brother and about 15 of her family members tried to rush us, and one actually came knocking on my door one night while my family was there trying to fight me i dont want to go to jail but i dont want those innocent people to go either!! i am unemployed and hardly have the money for a lawyer what can i do?

In cop shows, how are women cops and detectives typically portrayed?

The question is about both positive and negative stereotypes and typical roles of male and female cops in the police drama and cop shows. I don't think it's unrealistic totally to portray a female cop who is very strong physically and mentally, is very athletic, a expert in martial arts and can beat most men in combat despite not having the bulkiness, or the same body mass of the males. The problem with this I hear is that when women are portrayed strong and courageous, they are bionic, 3rd degree black belts, or just sitcoms basically having mutant X-Men like powers. To me, Walker Texas Ranger's Sydney Cooke played by Nia Peeples and NCIS's Ziva David played by Cote de Pablo are examples of strong, fast, intelligent, and independent women played realistically, even when sometimes not totally realistic. The male cops abilities are rather exaggerated and unreal such as being able to beat up or kill much larger opponents with strength alone with no real fighting skills, and surviving gunshot wounds that would kill even the world's strongest man in real life.
